Heys guys!

This is the website for my old secondary school (High School?). I
remember a student built it for them when I just started in the
school. 8 years later and not a lot has changed. Except where one of
the teachers has played around and broken the site. Its a fine example
of an internet dinosaur. I still look at it and cringe!! After looking
at this site would you want to go to this school??

I hate to point it out because it’s my favorite pub, but their website really stinks of 1998

Several things to note: When you google search for the place it’s the ninth entry, the busy background, bad fonts, animated gifs, almost has the charm of a myspace layout.

All that’s really missing is there to be some Irish MIDI song embedded that blares when you open the homepage.

What is it with pubs and bad webpages? Maybe they should put the pint down before they start playing with their HTML.

What is it with tech sites looking like they’re from the wrong decade? Steve J. writes in:

I nominate www.directron.com. This is a computer and eletronics retailer with a huge catalog. I know they must have something I need, but I’ve never bought anything from them and never will. Why not? Because it’s too frakin’ heard to find anything. It’s like going into one of those antique stores where there is so much stuff, all packed so close together, that you know they might have something you want but you also know you’re never going to find it.

Has no one from Directron ever surfed NewEgg, or TigerDirect? They must know there are cleaner web sites out there.

I recently ordered a geeky shirt from this website (which kind of sketched me out, since it looks so out of date). Fortunately, it actually arrived. But the copious use of tables, tiled backgrounds, and scrolling text totally qualifies this as a vintage web submission. Looking at the source code, the website even gets some modern day street cred by using Google Analytics.

From the wonderful Flash splash screen and animated gif enter graphic, you know you are in for a wonderful retro treat.

Once you have enjoyed the Flash animation, onto the main site, where you can find a wonderful animated rollover menu, a weather widget, an additional expanding side menu and clever use of Comic Sans.
